ACM Siggraph Mumbai (India) Chapter which organizes around
6 animation and VFX related workshops and seminars a year,
has announced the revised dates for 'Anigraph 2004', its
first ever mega show on animation, VFX and computer graphics
in India.
In
the planning for several months, the event shall be held
at Mumbai's Rang Sharda Auditorium in Bandra between 24
and 26 June 2004.The timings for the show are 10 am to 6
pm.
With
India's VFX pioneer Ramesh Meer at the helm of affairs,
Anigraph 2004 promises to be a well attended event.
Voicing
his anticipation for the show, Meer said, "ACM Siggraph
has around five hundred members of which four hundred are
expected to attend the show."
He
added, "The Rang Sharda auditorium has around eight
hundred seats, half are reserved for members of the trade
and the other half is kept for the students."
Amongst
the highlights of the show is a technical presentation by
Martin Poole of Pixelfarm (UK), who is especially flying
down to explain how their software enabled motion tracking
for the Oscar nominated top grosser, "Cold Mountain."
The session on Digital Visual Effects will have the country's
best studios
displaying their latest show reels along with a discussion
on the technology they have used in creating those visual
effects.
The
show is supported by Broadcast India and APAI (Animation
Producers of India), Arena Multimedia and Image Institute.
The
exhibition will showcase state-of-the-art products and technology.
A press release states that the confirmed exhibitors include
Seagate, Apple, Shaf, IBM, Leitch, Softimage, Eyeon Inc,
Alias, Krops and Motion Builder.
Amongst
the exhibitors who shall make presentations are Discreet,
Alias and Softimage who will present the best creative aspects
of their animation and compositing software.
Discreet
will also unveil the Digital Grading Technology used in
last years animated top grosser "Finding Nemo."
The Japanese motion capture product Krops will also be discussed
and demonstrated at the show.
