While
a lot of industry gossipmongers are talking about the debacle of
Jadooworks, the top management at the company has denied the talks
of JW's windfall doing the rounds and has claimed all such talk
to be rumours.
While there is no smoke without fire, we at Animation 'xpress are
glad and more than happy to believe the JW version of the story.
Denying reports which appeared in some section of the media in sections
of the press ,of salary cuts, Rajiv Marwah, CEO of India's premiere
animation company, Jadoo Works Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore while speaking
to Tarachand W of Indiantelevison.com's Bangalore bureau, said,
There is definitely a cost rationalization going on at our
end, and this is a normal activity for any business, but no salary
cuts have been made.
We
are looking out for growth capital, not working capital. Based on
rumors, people do approach us for takeover, this is inevitable for
any new company in the animation business today, but we, are not
going around offering Jadoo Works for sale, said Marwah when
asked about takeover rumors and rumors of lack of funds.
We
have a number of small projects under NDA and hence can't disclose
them. For Krishna, we are having some glitches. We would like to
make a top-notch quality product, suitable for an international
audience, for global consumption. said Marwah about the reports
in the media about Jadoo's lack of orders and non-existent progress
in their much publicized Krishna project.
Regarding
projects from Mike Young projects moving to Crest, Marwah said This
is only one incident, and I would not like to comment on Crest at
all.
When
asked about issues like Piracy, Marwah commented, Piracy in
any form is bad. The customer must insist that the vendor shows
them licenses of the software used to create the animation. Animation
software, as you know is very expensive, the onus lies with the
customer. A customer can get into a lot of trouble, if even after
telecasting the software provider claims that the software used
to create the animation content has been pirated.
