MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment has partnered with UTV World Movies to release
world cinema titles belonging to the latter's library on home video.
As
part of this partnership, Shemaroo today unveiled five titles namely House
of Flying Daggers, A Tale Of Two Sisters, A Room With A View, La Zona and
The Phantom Lover. Speaking
on the sidelines of the event, UTV Global Broadcasting Ltd. executive director
Shantanu Aditya said, "Through Shemaroo Entertainment, UTV has got one more
avenue to release its 600 titles that are lying in the library." UTV
intends to exploit these titles by way of theatrical, IPTV rights and home video
wherein it plans to open four to five titles every month.
Shemaroo Entertainment director Hiren Gada
said, "World Cinema was much smaller
a market compared to that of films from
Bollywood and Hollywood. When we started
a dialogue with the people of UTV, we found
that that we had some commonality in our
endeavour and since then the whole idea
was how to get both the ideas together and
make it work."
