MUMBAI: Excel Home Videos has partnered
with NDTV Lumiere to release Chinese film-maker
Jia Zhang Ke's Unknown Pleasure and
Platform on DVD.
Priced
at Rs 499, the DVDs also includes additional
features such as 'about the director/ movie',
'filmography' and 'awards'.
Platform,
a 2000 release,examines the transition of
China from Mao-inspired collectivism to
commercialism,westernisation, and popular
culture. The film follows a group of performing
artists in the state-run Fenyang Peasant
Culture Group who change with the cultural,
economic and political changes in China.

Pleasure, nominated for the Palme d'Or
at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival, gives
an account of disillusioned youth living
in China. The story ruminates on the boredom,
longing and helplessness of two teenage
Chinese boys stuck in the province with
nothing to do but dream of a better future
that evades them.
