MUMBAI: Television production company Behind The Scene is venturing into the distribution
of English films in India with Outlander that is slated to hit theatres
worldwide on 23 January. The film, a sci-fi action adventure, will witness a simultaneous
opening in India, the US and Europe.
Confirming
the move, Behind The Scene president - film distribution Jeetu Chawla said, Yes,
we are venturing into the distribution of English films in India with Outlander.
In India, apart from English the film will also be released in Hindi, Tamil and
Telugu on the same day. In Hindi, the film will be called Ek Aur Kurukshetra. Talking
about the number of screens across which the film will be released, Chawla stated,
We are planning to release Outlander across 125-175 screens pan India.
While the film,
produced by Barrie M Osborne and Chris Roberts, will be distributed by The Weinstein
Company in the US, Wild Bunch will release Outlander in Europe.
Made at a budget
of $47 million, the film has been directed by Howard McCain and stars James Caviezel,
Sophia Myles, Jack Huston, Ron Perlman and John Hurt. Some
of the television productions from the Behind The Scene basket include Dil
Hai Ki Manta Nahi, Apne...Mere Apne, Des Pardes and Saath Rahega Always.
