MUMBAI: The Madras High Court has stayed the worldwide release of the Aamir Khan-starrer
Ghajini after A Chandrasekaran, producer of the original Tamil film, filed
a suit against the film on 22 December.
While
filing the suit, Chandrasekaran claimed that he was the copyright holder for remaking
and dubbing of the film in all Indian languages except in Telugu.
The stay was
granted by Justice PR Shivakumar on 23 December. Produced
by Geetha Arts, the film is supposed to see a simultaneous release in India and
globally on Thursday, 25 December. According to industry analysts, an amount of
approximately Rs 1.2 billion is riding on Ghajini. Ghajini
is the Hindi remake of the Tamil film with the same name. The film was also made
in Telugu. The
film revolves around the story of a rich businessman who suffers from short-term
memory lapse. Ghajini, made on a budget of Rs 300 million, displays the
businessman's revenge for his wifes murder. |
