FWA to organise 2nd Indian Screenwriting Conference in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The Filmwriters Association (FWA) is set to hold the 2nd Indian Screenwriting Conference in Mumbai on 13 and 14 December at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research.

The FWA aims to strengthen the creative and professional collaboration between writers and filmmakers by identifying and discussing important aspects of these relationships in a constructive manner.

This conference is a forum where screenwriters will identify, acknowledge and confront serious issues on the creative and professional fronts. Apart from giving scriptwriters a chance to look at problems bogging down the profession, the conference will also provide senior writers with the opportunity to share their understanding of the craft, says an FWA release.

Some of the topics that will be discussed at the conference include “The work of Vijay Tendulkar” (this year’s conference is dedicated to him), “The uniqueness of the Indian script”, “Existing screenwriting standards”, “The politics of the script”, “Writing for TV”, “Writers rights”, “The writer-director relationship” and “The writer-producer interface”.

The confirmed panelists for the conference include Javed Akhtar, Kamal Haasan, Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowariker, Anurag Basu, akeysh Omprakash Mehra, Prakash Jha, Abbas Tyrewala, Anurag Kashyap, Amole Gupte, Anjum Rajabali, Sriram Raghavan, Shekhar Kapur, Govind Nihalani, Amol Palekar and Dr. Jabbar Patel.
