MUMBAI:
Working on the regional music industry front,
Sony BMG entered into the growing music market
in Tamil Nadu by acquring the music rights of
the Tamil film Dhasavadhaaram. The film
is produced and distributed by V Ravichandran.
To expand further in the Tamil market, it will
also launch several non-film albums, which include
an album by Yuvan Shankar.
This also marks Sony BMG's foray into the as-yet
unexplored Tamil pop and non-film music space.
With the Sony BMG's Tamil music label, Himesh
Reshammiya is also marking his debut in Kollywood
as the music director of the film.
The music for this film is slated to be launched
in the first week of March.
Oscar Films' V Ravichandran said, "Dhasavadhaaram
is getting ready for a worldwide solo release
on 10 April. It will release in Tamil, Telugu
and Hindi simultaneously; the number of prints
and publicity campaign are being worked out."
Sony BMG India MD Shridhar Subramaniam adds,
"It is a privilege for us to enter the
Tamil music market with a project as grand and
special as Dhasavadhaaram. Dhasavadhaaram
is a very special beginning to the things to
come and it shows our commitment to be a serious
long term player in this market."
Dhasavadhaaram features Kamal Hassan
in ten different roles and actress Asin in two.
Mallika Sherawat dons an altogether different
cap in this movie. She appears as a CIA agent
along with Jayapradha.
