MUMBAI:
The third outing, Housefull 2 having tasted success
in its opening weekend by roping in Rs 45 million, Sajid
Khan has moved on to start work on Himmatwala.
It’s
an irony that the film starring Jeetendra and Sridevi
that revived the trend of remaking South hits is itself
being remade with Ajay Devgn in the lead. "Would
you believe it, I had watched the Jeetendra hit 36 times,
when it opened in the 1980s. I was enthralled by that
film. I am maintaining the essence of the film, but
re-writing it completely," Khan said.
The
film also titled Himmatwala is being produced by Vashu
Bhagnani. Prakash Raj has been signed on to play a
pivotal part in the remake.
Khan
plans to complete Himmatwal before the year comes
to a close.
