MUMBAI:
Zanjeer scriptwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are
demanding royalty for their script from producer Amit
Mehra, late Prakash Mehra's son, who has expressed intent
to remake the blockbuster.
Last
week, Mehra first met Khan followed by Akhtar. The writers
told the producer that they would need a substantial
sum of money if Mehra wanted to re-translate the Zanjeer
script on celluloid.
"Yes,
I met both of them at their respective homes. I am taking
their blessings," Mehra said.
When
probed about the royalty the writers are demanding,
he did not deny, adding, "I am meeting them again
soon."
Indiantelevision.com
had earlier reported that the two scriptwriters were
miffed
with Mehra for not taking them into confidence about
his Zanjeer remake.
Meanwhile,
in a departure from the regular norm, director Apoorva
Lakhia
has sought the consent of the Bachchans before embarking
on his project. He
even went to the extent of offering Abhishek Bachchan
the lead role, but he is said to have declined.
With
junior Bachchan refusing to play the role, Lakhia
promptly approached Amitabh Bachchan to play a cameo
in the film to which he agreed.
