The Launch

It took place at a cybercafe, Interscape World in Mumbai's Shivaji Park area on 25 February 2000 at 3 pm.

The man who did the honours was Zee Telefilms chairman Subhash Chandra, who was extremely punctual. And very kind. He immediately wore the indiantelevision.com cap. We are extremely grateful to him, for he has after all changed the course of Indian television through his channels. To have the man with the golden touch launch http://www.indiantelevision.com was fitting.

We were a bunch of dreamers wanting to create the best portal for the Indian television industry.

And the industry responded. Ravina Raj Kohli, the then programming head of Sony charmed us all with her presence along with Sony IT head Anil Garg. Star TV vice-president Yash Khanna, actor Raju Kher, TV and theatre actress Rekha Sahay, producer Ajai Sinha, the-then Channel V general manager Suresh Bala, the-then CNBC India distribution head Rohinton Kapadia and the then MTV communications head Hemant Kenkre all turned up for the occasion. And so did senior journalists, photographers and camera crews from several TV stations.

It was a small beginning but the presence of so many relevant and important people in industry made it appear larger than life. We take this opportunity to thank everyone who believed in our dream and gave us a boost.
